Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
The CBT model proposes that how we think, feel and act are all interrelated. The goal of CBT is to teach individuals that we have the power to change our negative thoughts to promote positive problem solving and action. We focus on adapting and challenging negative beliefs about the world, unhelpful automatic thoughts, and dysfunctional assumptions. Individuals learn how to use mindfulness techniques, coping skills, social skills, and problem solving to change their behaviors, thoughts, and emotions to positively impact their well-being.
Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT)
REBT is an extension of the CBT model. It is an interactive approach to managing cognitive, emotional, and behavioral disturbances. The REBT model posits that it is mainly our thinking that can lead to emotional and behavioral difficulties. Individuals are taught how to examine and challenge their unhelpful thinking. We also work closely to help individuals identify their set of beliefs that frequently lead to emotional distress. REBT then provides a variety of methods to help people reformulate their dysfunctional beliefs into more sensible, realistic and helpful ones.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Skills
DBT is an extension of the CBT model. It is designed to help individuals with complex problems of emotional and behavioral dysregulation. The goal of treatment is to teach individuals to use specific skills to regulate their emotions, recognize internal states, focus their attention, tolerate distress, and develop and sustain satisfying interpersonal relationships. Individuals consistently practice mindfulness skills in counseling sessions and are specifically taught to generalize these skills to use throughout their day.
Psycho-Educational Evaluations
Psycho-educational evaluations play a pivotal role in identifying and understanding an individual’s learning needs. These assessments delve into various aspects of cognition, academic achievement, and socio-emotional functioning to provide a picture of an individual's strengths and challenges. Through standardized tests, observation, interviews, and other assessment tools, psycho-educational evaluations aim to uncover underlying factors that may impact learning. These evaluations help tailor interventions and support strategies to optimize learning outcomes. Moreover, they provide valuable insights into an individual's unique learning profile, fostering a collaborative approach to addressing educational needs effectively.
